KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL

     We can stand up and proudly say the words "I am an Ilocano." For we, Ilocano’s, can boast to other places our preserved arts and cultures which are really unbeatable.

      It has been a tradition to the Ilocano’s to celebrate the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. This prestigious celebration is being witnessed by enormous tourists giving their best to reach Vigan City, the venue of the said occasion.

     

      As a proud young Ilocana, fifteen years have passed in my life and I believe that Ilocos has really to showcase its rich Iloco cultural, artistic, historical and intellectual heritage. Lots of activities are being done in connection with the Kannawidan Festival. Some of these activities are the Kannawidan Trade Fair, Miss Saniata, Sarzuela and many others. There are also intellectual contests which are truly useful in perpetuating Ilocos hidden treasures.

      For the people, Kannawidan is one way for them to experience, know, learn, and love the different cuisines, cultures, traditions, and exhibits of their own province, of their own place. This festivity has a great impact to the people for it shows how their province lived and lives. For traders,  Kannawidan is a place, an activity and a way of how their living worked and works. Kannawidan is  a place for showcasing products like furniture, horticultures, crafts, cuisines, the province’s OTOP, and products coming from external towns and/or provinces. Kannawidan is an activity that unites dealers/merchants to one place and creates a market of beauty, food, and creativity.

      This Kannawidan Ylocos Festival aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province' rich cultural heritage, practices and traditions, and a showcase of the different agriculture and industry products. We, Ilocano’s should all be proud of with this because we are having this for tourists to appreciate our rich culture. Moreover, let us all preserve these cultures for next generations and this will serve as our trademark as an Ilocano. 

New Year New Me

        I keep on having a flashback about my 2013 memories. The way I laugh, I deal to life’s challenges, I hang out with my friends, the blessings I received, the conversation I had with the important persons in my life. I can’t help to miss all those stuffs. Whenever good memories pop up in my mind, I smile. And when the bad ones hit me, I just frown and try not to look back.

         

        New Year,  new life, new beginning, new gift from God. Every year is important, for me it’s like having another chance to prove myself to God, that I’m worth the life he had given me, to make some difference, to be more meaningful as a person, this is another chance for me to make things right and do better. I know it’s cliché to say ‘New Year, New Me , and we are all aware that most of us couldn’t do a change, some didn’t really tried their best to change and do better, and some tried it but it was just so hard for them to make it. This year, I’ll try my best since I’m graduating from high school, and college means everything to me, I will do my best to perform well in order to make my dreams come true. I promise to show the world the real me, I will not totally change but I will be better. So I would say, ‘‘New Year-not a New Me but a Better Me’’.

        The past years are just part of our life and we cannot undo what we’ve done but we can change for the better and hope for better things happen in our future. To make things better, I know it will be very hard, there are new obstacles but I won’t give up. I want to be better, less tears, less pain, more smiles, a more positive thinking, and to stay strong. We just have to trust ourselves and be thankful ourselves and be thankful for the blessings we received.

Reflection

       Time is so fast. We only have three months to enjoy our high school life. I wish I could stop time or slower the time to longer my stay here in school. I am quite dramatic and emotional for this. There are such things that I will never forget especially during our third quarter. It gives me a lot of memories to be kept and treasured.

       With the past weeks and days, I have learned a lot of things, not only in terms of our lessons in school but also some lessons in life specifically, my study habits. In ICT IV, I have learned a lot. I really enjoyed our lessons about the web. I am glad that I learned about making a HTML document and how to make it more attractive when it is viewed on the web. I have learned how to make alignments in an HTML document, applying font attributes and more about creating and designing a web page.

       With this third grading, I encountered some problems especially on how to budget my time in doing all the requirements for school. I felt like I am going to die but I'm glad that I survived. Despite of the sleepless nights and stressful days, I was able to learn successfully my lessons in school. I should do more important things and I should be more responsible with my studies.

Essence of Christmas

“We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” It is just a simple but a meaningful song you could hear from a group of children or even the old ones caroling outside our houses.

The 25th of December is considered as the Christmas Day. This is the season to be jolly and a season for us to give love and share our blessings. It’s time to cheer and let’s all be happy! It’s time to wipe the tears and let’s all be jolly! It’s my favorite time of the year! Happy Birthday Dear Jesus!

One song says, "Let's all give love on Christmas Day!" This is indeed true. Christmas is not just a time to make ourselves happy but it's also a time to give happiness to other people. We also have traditions for the Christmas. One is the blissful, bright, shimmering and wonderful blaze that the Christmas lights and other wonderful decorations which give us delight during this season. It was indeed very wonderful and amazing how these lights give us pleasures of happiness as we celebrate the Christmas Season. Many of us also enjoy singing carols to every house in our community. It really excites me as the season is fast-approaching. The most exciting part is the Christmas Eve and the Noche Buena !!! It's a tradition to most people around the world to prepare a simple yet enjoyable meal for this occasion. It is not important to prepare lots of foods as long as we are with our loved ones as we share our love with them. Christmas time is also a time of giving gifts and exchanging cards. It's not with the costs of these gifts but with how a giver gives it to the person with sincerity, and love with his/her whole-heart.

Let's all celebrate the Christmas Day with love, happiness and thanks. We thank the Lord for the blessings he gave us and we should also ask forgiveness for the wrong things we did. Christmas day should not only be celebrated once a year. The essence of this day should be practiced every day, now and forever. Let us make everyday a Christmas Day. 

CLIMATE CHANGE

The world now faces one of the most complex and important issues that deals with climate change. The impact that human have on the world has literally change the climate. Even though climate change is partially caused by the natural cycles of Earth, humans are still a major part of it.

To start with, there will be increased health risk. Rising temperatures will cause longer and more common heat waves. Rising sea levels will cause flooding and increase standing water, which can serve as breeding grounds for malaria and other parasites. Floods will also increase coastal erosion and destroy people’s home. Thousands of people will be displayed and coastal erosion will accelerate. Longer and more intense heat waves will cause heat-related injuries. Food supplies are also at risk. For all of these changes that in the end affect everyone.

Stop climate change need to be taken now because we will be experience its effects during our lifetimes. Since it has not affected us very much, not very many people are aware of it. We need to raise awareness now, because once we see its effects, it will be too late.

Despite the fact that climate change is progressing, there are still ways that it can be slowed down. To start with, the government should work to raise awareness about climate change. And what people can do to help. They also may not realize that they can make a difference by doing little things, like recycling and cleaning.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities.

All of us, have the rights to live whether they are rich or poor, beautiful or ugly, are all equal, right? Equality?  For me it is having that same treatment equally and leveled. It when favoritism is absent and leveled treatment is there. Equality makes life better and happier to live with and easier especially when discrimination isn't present. Imagine life when all people are seen as equal individuals, wouldn't it be nicer?

As part of a nation and the society, we have rights which are to be constituted properly to obtain unity, equality and stability among us. We are all human beings and we should be treated equally and fairly whether we are poor or rich. In democratic countries like the Philippines, the rights of people are very important. We should all make a stand against discrimination. We have our own strengths and weaknesses. We should accept this fact so we should respect our individual differences. There’s a need of the process of just fair, and humane transformation of our society in order to obtain genuine equality among men and women.

We all have our rights but in accordance to these rights, we also have our duties and responsibilities to obtain the equal development and transition of the society and so, we can also have equal opportunities to develop fairly in our healthy ways. Let’s all take our counterparts to make a stand against discrimination so that we stand together through peace and unite ourselves to attain equality in the society we live in.

Going Global Trough English Language

Language plays an important role in human life. One tries to acquire, learn and use language as a means of communication, and simultaneously as social symbol of humanity. By using language someone could make statements, convey facts and knowledge, explain or report something, and keep social relations among the language users. These indicate that by means of language, people can express their ideas, feeling, information through communication.
           As one of language in the world, English is considered and applied as international language. It is understood and spoken almost everywhere in the world and it has become the key instrument of globalization. As students, we learn English are intended to obtain various knowledge, to comprehend and understand the textbooks learned in English, to gain knowledge and skills, and to be ready enter to the university. Foreign language skills, and in particular the English are a good tool in work, school, on vocation, when building a career or promote your own business.

Although, there is a lot of people around the world today that won’t admit how important English for the world I’m one of those many that understands the importance of the English language. “ENGLISH WILL MAKE EVERYBODY SURVIVE AND GO ANYWHERE”. This expression reminds us how importance of English for human life is.
